Kynk | Brand Identity & Website Concept
Kynk is a branding and website concept created for an Afro-Caribbean hair salon. The project was developed as a passion project, with a focus on celebrating cultural identity, individuality, and self-expression through visual design.
The aim was to create a bold, confident brand that reflects the vibrancy and diversity of the community the salon serves.
The goal of the project was to develop a visual identity that felt authentic and empowering, while avoiding generic beauty branding. I wanted the brand to feel rooted in culture, expressive, and modern, with a digital presence that supports discovery and connection.
The Goal
The visual identity draws on bold typography, expressive colour, and confident layout choices to communicate strength and individuality. Design decisions were informed by the importance of representation and the salon’s role as a space for community as well as self-care.
The brand was designed to be flexible, allowing it to translate across print, social, and digital touchpoints.
Brand & Visual Direction
Website Design
Alongside the brand identity, I explored how the visual language could extend into a simple, user-friendly website. The focus was on clear navigation, strong imagery, and an approachable tone that reflects the salon’s personality.
The website concept prioritises clarity and accessibility, while maintaining a strong visual presence.
Outcomes & Learnings
This project strengthened my approach to culturally sensitive branding and reinforced the importance of designing with authenticity and representation in mind. It also allowed me to explore how brand systems can translate effectively into digital experiences.
